Tell me a little about magnets:
There are two types of magnets: permanent and electro-magnetic. The former are magnetic all the time, the latter require an electric current to create the magnetic field. When the electric current is stopped the magnetic field disappears. At Guy's Magnets we deal solely with permanent magnets.
What kind of magnets are there?
We sell magnets made of rare earth metals including (click to find out the differences
between them):
We also sell magnets made of:
How strong are the magnets?
The magnetic strength of a magnet is measured in MGOe. The higher the MGOe the more
powerful the magnet. NdFeB is graded by MGOe strength. So it is easy to determine its
strength. An example of this is N35 where 35 indicates the MGOe. Most of the other magnet
materials are not so easy to work out the MGOe.
